The Manager, Capital Project Financial Controls provides leadership and financial expertise in support of the global capital project portfolio in the areas of controls, reporting, costing, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and the systems and processes underlying these functions.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
• Supports the CAR preparation process, ensuring that each is complete, accurate, and prepared on a timely basis.
• Ensures that governance procedures are adequately defined within policy materials and are functioning to deliver a high level of stewardship of capital project spending
• Provides cost (budget, forecast, actual) / progress reporting to management.
• Participates in a wide variety of special projects unique to this function.
• Acts as a member of the Corporate Capital Committee (under development).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Designated accountant with 5 -10 years of costing, forecasting, budgeting (preferably capital projects), variance analysis experience in a multinational organization with complex systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of internal controls, in depth knowledge of GAAP (US and IFRS).
• Knowledge of performance management for projects and creation of associated KPIs would be an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and build effective relationships with the internal customer community.
• Creativity around system and procedure improvements is required, including a solid ability to challenge current processes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
• Experience with Oracle, Cognos, Hummingbird software.
• Familiarity with metals & mining projects.
